Tired
John Hall wrote this song and sang the lead vocal. He was seven years older than the rest of us.

On the surface, John Hall seemed to be a fun loving, easy going guy. He and Charles shared an apartment in Santa
Monica where I would pick them up for the two hour drive to Ojai. I guess I got to know him (and Charles) pretty
well as the conversations would drift from one thing to another. It would start with something about the weekend's
Prufrock sessions, and invariably lead to animated existential observations all the way to the studio. Often these
conversations would start before I picked them up, as they would get stoned while waiting for me to arrive. I never
smoked, and I was always paranoid that if we were stopped by the Highway Patrol, we'd all be in jail. I knew they
often took weed to the studio.

While
Tired seems to be just another youthful lament about falling in and out of love, it may have signalled
something we all missed when we recorded it. Sadly, little more than a year after the
Prufrock sessions, John Hall
ended his life on the very day he got married for the second time.

This track starts with ominous guitar feedback, that leads to powerful full piano chords driving the melody. Jim
wove great guitar licks throughout the song, again playing a pretty amazing solo over an ever escallating piano chord
progression.

I always liked the background
Ba Bas in the verse, which had reference to the 1966 Batman TV show theme written
by Neal Hefti.
